Shiva Nematgorgani
University of Texas at Dallas

The role of macrophages and iNOS in the effects of CGRP in preclinical migraine models

11:25 AM - 11:35 AM

Shiva Nematgorgani is currently a PhD student in Neuroscience at the University of Texas at Dallas, where she am conducting pioneering research under the supervision of Dr. Dussor. Herwork focuses on the mechanistic role of immune cells in migraine using rodent models. Before joining Dr. Dussor’s lab, I earned a PhD in Nutrition with the aspiration to merge this knowledge with clinical applications to improve health and longevity. I have had extensive research experience in clinical nutrition and developed a profound interest in neuroscience, particularly in migraine research. This passion led to my second PhD, after which I was eager to further explore the underlying mechanisms of migraine. My move to the US marked a significant new chapter in my academic career, reinforcing my dedication to migraine research and education. I am committed to making a meaningful impact in the field of neuroscience.

Katherine Podraza
Headache Specialist
Hartford Healthcare Headache Center

Association of clinical factors and migraine subtype with OCTA measures in a population with migraine in the interictal phase.

11:35 AM - 11:45 AM

Dr. Katherine Podraza MD, PhD is a fellowship trained, board-certified headache and facial pain specialist and neurologist practicing at the Hartford Healthcare Headache Center. She is also an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She completed her MD, PhD training at Loyola University Chicago, her neurology residency at UCLA and her headache medicine and facial pain fellowship at the UCLA Goldberg Migraine Program. Her clinical practice is located at the Hartford Healthcare Headache Center in Mystic, Connecticut. Her research is focused on studying the utility of optical imaging in headache medicine. She has a special interest in the interface of visual disorders and headache medicine and has been studying changes in retinal perfusion in migraine.

Dr. Adam Sprouse Blum
University Of Vermont

Vascular reactivity in migraine using breath-hold functional MRI

11:45 AM - 11:55 AM

Adam Sprouse Blum, MD is an Assistant Professor of Neurological Sciences at the University of Vermont. His current research interests relate to clinical and neuroimaging differences between migraine with left- vs right-sided headache as well as dural capillary function in migraine.
Edina Szabo
Instructor
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School

Anti-CGRP monoclonal antibodies change cortical thickness and resting-state functional connectivity in patients with migraine

11:55 AM - 12:05 PM

Dr. Szabo is a Research Fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from ELTE Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest, Hungary. Her main research interest focuses on understanding the neurological underpinnings of headaches and chronic pain. Utilizing advanced MRI techniques, her current work aims at 1) defining the degree to which brain alterations could be specific to different pain conditions (or more general across all pain disorders), 2) determining the risk factors involved in pain chronification, 3) investigating post-treatment predictors and effects by exploring how imaging markers could distinguish between treatment responders and non-responders.
