    Mental Health in Pediatrics

    2:50 PM - 3:15 PM

    Presentation Description

As part of this session focused on pediatrics, this presentation will review the current state of knowledge related to the mental health of youth. Data from population studies will be used to put into context the experiences of youth living with headache disorders. Clinical data from a large pediatric headache center will be highlighted to better understand the relation between headache frequency, disability, and youth-reports of feelings of anxiety and depression. The goal is to help headache health care providers to appreciate the biopsychosocial context of the patients they see in practice. Interventions based upon a biopsychosocial model will be discussed and ways to incorporate them into an optimal treatment plan will be discussed.
